Kurdish-American Actor Hayman Homer

A Salahaddin University graduate has risen to prominence in the American film industry while dedicating part of his life to defending human rights and assisting those in need, particularly within the Kurdish community

Saman Abdullah, spokesperson for Salahaddin University, told Kurdistan 24 that Kurdish-American actor Hayman Homer was born in Erbil and graduated from Salahaddin University’s College of Political Sciences and International Relations. He now resides in Nashville, Tennessee, in the United States.

“Hayman has devoted part of his life to defending human rights and providing assistance to those in need, especially in Kurdish society,” Abdullah said. “His humanitarian efforts are driven by his deep connection to his Kurdish roots and his commitment to making a positive impact.”
Abdullah noted that Hayman has been actively involved in several initiatives aimed at supporting refugees, promoting education, and providing essential resources to underserved communities.

One of his notable projects includes his leading role as Jesus Christ in the epic historical film "The Messiah" (2024). This groundbreaking portrayal marks him as the first Kurd to take on this iconic character. The film is currently being screened at the Museum of the Bible in Washington, DC, the largest museum dedicated to the holy Bible in the world.

Hayman’s influential efforts have drawn international attention to issues such as displacement, human rights, and the need for global solidarity. “Through his work, Hayman has inspired many people to act and support social cooperation and has helped several cultural and non-profit organizations to promote Kurdish heritage,” Abdullah remarked.

As a board member of the Kurdish Community Council of Tennessee and the Kurdish Diaspora Confederation in Nashville, Hayman works to promote the principles of democracy, peace, freedom of expression, coexistence, and community cooperation. These initiatives have not only preserved cultural traditions but also fostered a sense of Kurdish pride and unity around the world.
